TIANS and Destination Cape Breton Partner to Strengthen Tourism Workforce

Destination Cape Breton is proud to announce its partnership with the Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia (TIANS) to deliver the Tourism Industry Satellite Training Project for Cape Breton Island-Unama’ki. This initiative aims to enhance HR capacity and workforce skills, empowering local tourism businesses to thrive in an evolving industry landscape.

Mary Theresa Jessome (pictured above) has been contracted as the Regional Tourism HR Advisor. Mary Theresa brings extensive experience from her previous role as Industry Liaison with the Cape Breton Island Tourism Training Network, coupled with a deep understanding of the local tourism landscape. 

Key Objectives of the Project:

  • Address HR Challenges
    Collaborate with tourism operators to identify and overcome HR obstacles.
  • Provide Tailored Training Solutions
    Connect Industry with workshops and tools tailored to the specific needs of Cape Breton Island’s tourism businesses.
  • Build Workforce Capacity
    Equip the local tourism workforce with the necessary skills to meet industry demands and drive sustainable growth.
