Cabot Trail 100 Engagement Sessions

The Cabot Trail 100 Steering Committee is officially inviting residents, cultural leaders and youth from across the region to participate in a series of upcoming community engagement sessions. These sessions, scheduled throughout April 2026, will gather the ideas, values and stories that will define the vision for the Cabot Trail’s landmark 100th anniversary in 2032.

Since its official opening in 1932, the Cabot Trail has become a global icon, deeply woven into the heritage of the Mi’kmaw, Acadian, Gaelic and trail-adjacent communities that call it home. The “Cabot Trail 100” initiative is a collaborative, cross-cultural project dedicated to ensuring that the centennial celebration reflects the diverse voices and shared history of the entire region.

Engagement Session Schedule: 

The committee will host 12 regional in-person sessions across Cape Breton Island, following a culturally respectful “Two-Eyed Seeing” (Etuaptmumk) approach. Sessions are approximately two hours long and include facilitated discussions and cultural protocols.

For those unable to attend in person, a digital survey will be available to ensure all community members can contribute their perspectives.
